Wool is a natural, durable material with unique properties that keep you warm, even when it's wet. To preserve the quality of the wool and extend the life of your wool garments, it's important to wash and maintain them properly.

Wash infrequently

Wool has self-cleaning properties and rarely needs to be washed. Often, airing out wool garments after use is enough. This keeps them fresh without exposing them to unnecessary wear. When wool does need to be washed, you should do so in the gentlest way possible.

How to wash wool clothes in the washing machine:

  1. Check the garment’s care instructions for necessary information
  2. If you have stains, it can help to soak the garment in cold water for 15 minutes first
  3. Close zippers, turn the garment inside out, and place it in the washing machine (don't fill the machine more than halfway)
  4. Use liquid detergent for wool – Note: No fabric softener
  5. Use a wool or hand-wash program to avoid shrinking and felting. Wash at a low temperature, max 30°C
  6. Stretch the garment gently while wet to maintain its shape, and hang to dry (heavier garments should dry flat, e.g., on a towel)
  7. When dry, turn the garment right side out, and it’s ready to use

Handwashing wool

You can also wash wool by hand, in a tub or washbasin, with water at around 30°C and wool detergent. Rinse several times and gently squeeze out the water. Avoid rubbing or twisting the garment too hard.

Tip! Heavily sweaty garments can often be rinsed in cold water without detergent. This will usually suffice, saving energy and water by avoiding a machine wash.

Storage

When not using your wool clothes, they should be stored in a dry and airy place. Avoid plastic bags that can trap moisture. If storing wool garments for a longer period, it might be wise to use a garment bag to protect against moths.

By following these simple guidelines, you can ensure that your wool products last for many years without losing their unique qualities.

Hope this helps you maintain your woolen clothes. If you have any questions, our customer service will be happy to help you!

Good luck!
