Bergan's upcoming product series for advanced mountaineering, Y MountainLine, has been awarded a total of four awards even before launch. Three of them have been awarded at the international trade fair ISPO in Munich this week. The back pack that complements the collection received its ISPO award earlier this autumn. The products that have been honored this week are a mid-layer jacket and a bib pant.
Y MountainLine is a brand new and super technical product series from Bergans, designed to keep you comfortable and safe on the most extreme mountain adventures. The collection will be released on the market in the autumn and has been shown at the international sports fair ISPO in Munich this week.
The Scandinavian Outdoor Award is presented by the Scandinavian Outdoor Group and has become an important award since it was first awarded in 2005. The jury consists of Europe's most experienced journalists with an interest in travel and outdoor life. Because the products are tested in practice, the price has been highly recognized both by manufacturers and in the trade.
Bergans was awarded the SOA prize in the "Apparel" category for its product Y MountainLine Wooltech Midlayer Jacket, a highly technical midlayer jacket designed for activity in demanding mountain terrain. The SOA jury emphasizes comfort, detailing and usability in its reasoning:
The Technostretch fabric - a blend of merino wool and Cordura - used to make this midlayer jacket has proven to be extremely comfortable to wear. The addition of a ceramic print on the fabric improves robustness. The design is well thought out: the flat seams are placed so that they do not collide with the shoulder straps. The pull tabs are large and usable even with gloves. The close-fitting hood fits well under a helmet. The integrated neck warmer protects against cooling and is also comfortable to wear under a shell jacket. With the Y MountainLine Wooltech Midlayer Jacket, Bergans of Norway has created a midlayer jacket that you can wear all year round. Inside and outside.
The mid-layer jacket was also awarded an ISPO Award, which is a global industry award established to honor outstanding products and innovations.
The ISPO jury states the following about the Y MountainLine Wooltech Midlayer Jacket:
«A very practical and functional midlayer. The thin hood can be worn under the helmet. A balaclava or a thin beanie as additional protection against the cold for the head becomes superfluous».
The Y MountainLine Bold 3L Shell Bib, which is probably Bergans' most robust and technical shell bib ever, was also awarded an ISPO prize. This is an advanced and rock-solid bib shell pant designed to provide exceptional weather protection and premium performance during extreme outdoor activities.
The jury justifies the award as follows:
«Durability and technical function are paired here. Cleverly placed Cordaura reinforcements in places that are particularly stressed when using crampons are just one example of the very well thought-out product design».
Bergans product designer Thea Holo has been central in developing the Y MountainLine series, she is excited to if the products will also impress real mountain people out there.
"I'm not going to hide the fact that awards and recognition from people in the industry are fantastic, because it really is!
